Tooth Extractions

When removal is the best option

While we always aim to save natural teeth, sometimes extraction is the best option for your overall oral health. Whether it's a severely damaged tooth, overcrowding, or preparation for orthodontics, we make the process as comfortable as possible.

When Is Extraction Necessary?

Reasons for extraction include severe decay or infection that can't be treated, advanced gum disease causing loose teeth, cracked or broken teeth beyond repair, overcrowding before orthodontic treatment, or problematic wisdom teeth.

The Extraction Process

We ensure you're completely numb before starting. Simple extractions are straightforward, with the tooth being gently loosened and removed. More complex cases may require surgical extraction. We'll explain exactly what to expect before we begin.

After Your Extraction

We'll provide detailed aftercare instructions to promote healing and prevent complications. Most discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter painkillers. We'll schedule a follow-up if needed and discuss tooth replacement options if appropriate.

Replacing Extracted Teeth

Unless it's a wisdom tooth or extraction for orthodontics, we'll discuss replacement options. Leaving gaps can cause remaining teeth to shift, affecting your bite and appearance. Options include implants, bridges, or dentures depending on your situation.
