Dental Implants Cambridge

The gold standard for replacing missing teeth

Looks, feels and functions like a natural tooth
Can last a lifetime with good oral hygiene
Preserves jawbone density and facial structure
No impact on healthy neighbouring teeth

Dental implants are the most advanced and long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth. They consist of a titanium post surgically placed in the jawbone, topped with a custom crown that looks and functions just like a natural tooth.

This treatment is ideal if you

  • Anyone with one or more missing teeth
  • Those unhappy with the fit or feel of removable dentures
  • Patients wanting a permanent, fixed tooth replacement
  • People who want to eat, speak and smile with full confidence again

How it works

01

Assessment and planning

We carry out a thorough examination including X-rays or a 3D scan to assess your bone levels, discuss your options, and plan your implant with precision.

02

Implant placement

The titanium implant post is placed into the jawbone under local anaesthetic. Most patients report far less discomfort than they expected.

03

Healing and integration

Over the following months, the implant fuses with the surrounding bone through osseointegration, creating a stable, permanent foundation for your new tooth.

04

Your new tooth

Once fully healed, a custom-made crown is fitted to the implant, precisely matched to your surrounding teeth so the result looks completely natural.

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that acts as an artificial tooth root. Once placed in the jawbone, it integrates with the bone over several months (a process called osseointegration), creating a stable foundation for a crown, bridge, or denture.

Benefits of Implants

Implants look and feel like natural teeth, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. They help preserve jawbone density, don't require alteration of adjacent teeth, and with proper care, can last a lifetime. They're the closest thing to getting your natural tooth back.

Are You a Candidate?

Most adults with good general health are candidates for dental implants. You'll need adequate jawbone density to support the implant, healthy gums, and commitment to good oral hygiene. We'll assess your suitability during a thorough consultation.

The Implant Process

Getting an implant typically involves several stages over 3-6 months. First, the implant is surgically placed. After a healing period, an abutment is attached, and finally, a custom crown is fitted. While the process takes time, the results are worth the wait.

Common questions

Am I a suitable candidate?+
Most adults in good general health are suitable for implants. You'll need sufficient jawbone density and healthy gums. We assess this thoroughly at your consultation and will always explain all your options.
How long does the whole process take?+
From implant placement to the final crown, the process typically takes 3-6 months. Some cases are faster; others involving bone grafting may take a little longer.
Is the surgery painful?+
We use local anaesthetic throughout, so you shouldn't feel pain during the procedure. Mild soreness and swelling in the days afterwards is normal and manageable with over-the-counter painkillers.
How long do implants last?+
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, implants can last a lifetime. The crown on top may need replacing after 15-20 years, but the implant itself is designed to be permanent.
