Stained Teeth Treatment Cambridge

A noticeably brighter smile is often more achievable than people think.

Tooth discolouration is extremely common and can have several different causes. Surface staining from coffee, tea, red wine or smoking responds well to professional whitening and polishing. Deeper discolouration — from old restorations, fluorosis, or tooth injury — may need a more tailored approach. Understanding the cause is the starting point.

You might have this if you notice

  • Teeth that appear yellow, brown or grey
  • Uneven colouring across the smile
  • White spots or patches on the enamel
  • Staining that has built up gradually over years
  • Colour that doesn't respond to whitening toothpaste

A noticeably brighter smile is often more achievable than people think.

Common questions

Why are my teeth yellow even though I brush them twice a day?+
Natural tooth colour varies significantly between people, and some degree of yellowing is completely normal. Diet, medication history and genetics all play a role alongside brushing.
How white can my teeth go with professional whitening?+
This varies by person — teeth cannot be whitened beyond their natural shade. Most patients see a noticeable improvement of several shades. We'll give you a realistic expectation at your consultation.
Will whitening damage my teeth?+
Professional whitening, carried out correctly with custom trays, is safe. Some temporary sensitivity is common but resolves within a few days.
Does whitening work on crowns or veneers?+
No. Whitening only works on natural tooth enamel. If your crowns or veneers have discoloured, they would need to be replaced to match a lighter shade.
