Emax Veneers Cambridge

The gold standard in cosmetic veneers — ultra-thin, lifelike, and built to last.

Ultra-thin — as little as 0.3mm preparation
Translucency that mirrors natural enamel
Exceptional strength — resistant to chipping
Biocompatible, gum-friendly ceramic
Stain-resistant for a lasting result

IPS e.max is the material of choice for patients who want veneers that are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. Made from lithium disilicate ceramic, e.max veneers combine exceptional strength with the translucency and fluorescence of real enamel — so they catch the light just like your surrounding teeth. They can be prepared to an extremely fine thickness, meaning minimal removal of natural tooth structure.

This treatment is ideal if you

  • You want the most natural-looking cosmetic result possible
  • You want to minimise preparation of your natural teeth
  • You have discolouration or shape concerns on front teeth
  • You are looking for a premium, long-lasting veneer solution

How it works

01

Consultation

We assess your teeth, discuss your goals and show you digitally what e.max veneers could look like. We confirm suitability and plan your smile design.

02

Preparation

A fine layer of enamel — as little as 0.3mm — is gently removed from the front of your teeth. Temporaries are placed so you leave the same day with a smile.

03

Laboratory fabrication

Your bespoke e.max veneers are crafted by a specialist ceramist and shade-matched with precision to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth.

04

Bonding

Temporaries are removed, your e.max veneers are carefully fitted, adjusted and permanently bonded for a beautiful, lasting result.

What makes e.max different?

Most ceramics used in dentistry are either purely aesthetic or purely strong — e.max achieves both. Its lithium disilicate structure gives it a flexural strength of around 400 MPa, while its internal crystalline structure creates natural light-scattering that mimics real enamel far more convincingly than conventional porcelain.

No-prep e.max veneers

Because e.max can be fabricated at such fine thicknesses, some patients are suitable for no-prep veneers — where no enamel is removed at all. This is ideal for patients who want a reversible option, or whose teeth have slightly reduced facial volume that benefits from additional ceramic thickness.

Common questions

How long do e.max veneers last?+
With proper care, 15–20 years or more. Lithium disilicate ceramic is significantly stronger than standard feldspathic porcelain and composite — making e.max one of the most durable veneer materials available.
Are e.max veneers suitable for me?+
They are ideal for front teeth where aesthetics are the priority. We assess suitability at your consultation — factors include tooth position, bite, and your aesthetic goals.
How much natural tooth needs to be removed?+
Very little — typically just 0.3–0.5mm. In some cases, no preparation is required at all (known as no-prep or minimal-prep e.max veneers), preserving your natural tooth entirely.
What is the difference between e.max and standard porcelain veneers?+
e.max is a specific lithium disilicate ceramic that is stronger and more translucent than conventional feldspathic porcelain. It is the preferred material of many leading ceramists for its combination of aesthetics and longevity.
Can e.max veneers be whitened?+
No — ceramic does not respond to whitening agents. The shade is set when the veneer is made. If you plan to whiten your natural teeth, do so before your veneers are fabricated so we can match the colour perfectly.
