White spots on teeth can be distracting and affect your confidence. These chalky-looking areas can result from various causes, but modern treatments can significantly reduce their appearance or eliminate them entirely, restoring a more uniform smile.
What Causes White Spots?
White spots commonly result from demineralisation during orthodontic treatment, dental fluorosis (excessive fluoride during childhood), early-stage decay, or developmental conditions. Understanding the cause helps us recommend the most effective treatment.
Treatment Options
Options include microabrasion (gently removing the outer layer of affected enamel), resin infiltration (Icon treatment) which fills the porous enamel, remineralisation therapy, teeth whitening (which can help blend white spots), or veneers for severe cases.
Icon White Spot Treatment
Icon is a minimally invasive treatment that infiltrates resin into the porous white spot area, filling the lesions and creating a more uniform appearance. It requires no drilling, no anaesthesia, and can often be completed in one visit.
Preventing White Spots
For those with braces, excellent oral hygiene is essential to prevent white spots forming. We'll provide guidance on cleaning around orthodontic appliances. Using fluoride toothpaste appropriately helps protect enamel without causing fluorosis.

Geeta explained everything in detail after an examination of my teeth that was probably the most explorative check I've ever had in all my years. No hard sell and a genuine authentic explanation of my teeth (and related oral health). High tech equipment and no uncomfortable processes to map teeth and gums. In my views this is a totally professional service that's almost worth looking forward to.
