Broken Tooth Repair Cambridge

A broken tooth needs prompt attention — we offer same-day appointments and a range of repair options.

A broken tooth can range from a small piece of enamel snapping off to a more significant fracture that affects the inner structure of the tooth. The priority is to assess the damage quickly to understand which nerve or root is involved, and then decide on the best course of treatment. In many cases, the tooth can be saved.

You might have this if you notice

  • A visible break or crack in the tooth
  • Sharp pain when biting or chewing
  • Sensitivity to temperature that lingers after the stimulus is removed
  • Swelling or tenderness in the gum around the affected tooth

Common questions

Is a broken tooth a dental emergency?+
It can be. If you are in significant pain, have a sharp edge, or the break is extensive, call us as soon as possible. We keep same-day slots for urgent situations.
Can a broken tooth be saved?+
In many cases, yes — even quite severely broken teeth can be saved with root canal treatment and a crown. The key is to get it assessed quickly.
What should I do if I've broken a tooth?+
Rinse gently with warm water, avoid biting on that side, and call us. If a piece has come off, keep it in milk or saliva and bring it with you.
Will my broken tooth hurt?+
It depends on how deep the break is. Surface fractures may cause no pain at all. Breaks that reach the inner pulp are usually quite painful and need prompt treatment.
